  Captain Robert C. Houston, USN (Ret)  

 

 

 Retired Navy Captain Robert C. Houston, 87, died
 March 7, 2000. He graduated from the United States
 Naval Academy in 1934 and served on active duty for 30
 years. He served in World War II and Korean War,
 commanding destroyers and amphibious warfare ships.

 Captain Houston was born April 21, 1912,  in Mandan,
 North Dakota, to Cecil and Vinnie Houston.  He was
 married to Edith Hueper on June 10th, 1939.

 He is survived by his son Robert (Barbara), daughter
 Ann Gentry (John) and grandchildren Robert Houston,
 Leslie Ann Gentry, Remi Lee Gentry and John Houston
 Gentry. He was preceded in death by his wife Edith and
 sons Gary Houston and David Houston.

 All the family would like to extend their thanks to the
 loving staff of Affirmative Care, where Bob made his
 home after moving to Tucson from Sun City, Arizona.

 Services were held at Evangelical Covenant Church,
 551 N. Camino Seco on March 11th at 2 p.m.  with Rev.
 Ken  Robinson officiating.

 Among the few personal items in his room was the
 member certificate for the USS Rich DD-820
 Association.
