The Fourth Annual Field Day aboard the USS Laffey (DD724) will be held from Sunday 12 OCT thru Sunday 18 OCT, 2008 at Patriot's Point Naval and Maritime Museum in Mt. Pleasant, (Charleston) SC.

Onboard berthing is by space available. There are motels nearby at reasonable rates if there is no room on the Laffey. You will know well in advance of availability.

Three daily meals will be prepared and served on the Laffey. Cost per person is $9.00 Per Diem payable upon departure.

There is no requirement for you to spend the entire week. You may arrive and depart at your convenience but we will need to know your schedule to accommodate meals and berthing. We ask that once you establish your schedule that you do not  make changes as your berth is likely to be re-assigned to another shipmate.

What you will be doing: The Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum relies upon a certain amount of volunteer efforts in a number of areas. During our Field Day you will receive assignments relative to the maintenance and upkeep of the USS Laffey museum ship. The work to be done is planned in advance by the museum staff as part of an ongoing program. Each assignment is consistent with individual talent and capability. Just as when we were on active duty, safety is first and foremost. The assignments do not have a deadline and work is performed as we are able.
