On this date 29 years ago, the USS Rich (DD/DDE 820) was formally and officially de-commissioned having served 31 years, 5 months and 12 days of continuous active service to the United States of America.  Although she won't be remembered in history, she will never be forgotten by the crews who sailed here, each one faithful to the other until the bitter end.
