Carrying The Baton

It must be a really good feeling to have a child follow a parent's footsteps into the military. For shipmate Delton Orthouse (GMM3, 63-67) the feeling is doubly good. That's right... TWO of his children followed his lead and both are on active duty in the United States Navy!

Del and wife Mary's daughter Teresa (IT1) is stationed in Naples, Italy and their son Patrick (MM2) is stationed in Atsugi, Japan. That's just about as far apart as you can be on this planet with mom and dad making their home in Spokane, WA.

Del's son Pat, his wife and new grandson were able to take Thanksgiving leave in Spokane and used the visit as an opportunity to have grandson Jake baptized.

The two families also used the time to have an early Christmas. Dad Del was surprised with a really cool gift from son Pat.
