NOTE 3.  DESLANT basketball team defeated PHIBLANT 94 -75 in two overtime periods

for LANTFLT Championship.

NOTE 4.  ODE TO SMALL BOYS OF HUK FOUR

The screen is skippered by a great guy named Scott

Who in his day has been through quite a lot

He sank many Japs and was ornery and mean

He can still be this way as he reorients the screen

Captain Ashford is an officer who hails from the deep south

You can tell this the minute he opens his mouth

We all agreen no finer gentleman was born

He speaks in soft tones and he lays off the horn

Here's to the outfit known as the NEW

From skipper on down they're true blue thru and thru

Give them a job and they're off like a start

The assignment is finished before you can fart

Another fine creft goes by the name of HOLDER

You seldom will find one more stout or more bolder

They like it best when the going gets rough

For a would-be enemy it sure would be tough

Another good can is know as the RICH

Who has a tendency on occasion to moan and bitch

They're at their best when crying for leave

It is then often necessary to give them the ho and the heave

PUTNAM and crew is a dolid fine team

Who keeps this small boy right smack on the beam

With Dave at the helm they're a dream to survey

As they wind up their task like a farmer in hay

HENLEY is skippered by a man named Raphael

Whose crew would follow thru high water or hell

The way they go whipping about on the sea

You just know they are sweating another fate

Dennis the Menace has run into a jinx

Bailing wire now holds together this nautical minx

But when small boys stand up and are counted in line

In spite of his ruptures we think he's just fine

       You joined us in October

       The various seas to roam

You leave us now for the last time

As we all head for home

The spirit shown by all of you

       In weather good and bad

Is warming to the lot of us

Who know the load you've had

We think you are a splendid group

Of team mates to have around

The skill you've shown time after time

Will pay off when the chips are down

So as you head for Norfold town

And home and all its fun

We bend you off with heartfelt pride

And praise for tasks well done.

NOTE 5. Reply to Note 4 from RICH: INVICTUS or IT IS BETTER TO HE HATED THAN IGNORED

Initiative he has who makes it work

       But insubordination when it flops

We make noises like an angry turk

Yet we still think that HUK GROUP FOUR is tops

This Med cruise we consider has been fun

Would like to join you for another one.

NOTE 6.  On the occasion of the disbanding the Navy's finest hunter killer group

I commend you all for your great performance of the past two months.  You

are combat ready and are top notch ambassadors of good will.  The spirit,

know how, and can do attitude which you have displayed will stand you in

good stead wherever you go as teams or individuals.  My appreciation and

best wishes to you and your loved ones.  Godspeed.  COMMODORE SEARS

                                            W. L. LARSON

                                           LCDR USN

                                           Executive Officer

NOTE 7.  Liberty will not be granted until Customs Officials have cleared the ship.
